Roland has been in the antique and fine art business since 1994.

Roland started his career in antiques as a very young collector, and quickly made a name for him-self in trade circles. His first interest being in clocks and watches, before gradually branching out to other antiques and decorative arts. Roland joined John Moran Auctioneers in 1999.

As a generalist, Roland has a broad knowledge of personal estate property, and is responsible for researching and cataloguing all types of objects, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, silver, porcelain and carpets; his specialty in clocks and watches also has him working closely with Moran’s Jewelry Department. He regularly prepares formal valuations for insurance and fair-market purposes.

In his role as Estates Auction Director, Roland is responsible for overseeing the thematic scope of each of Moran’s ten Decorative Art Auctions held throughout the year, as well as for coordinating Moran’s free monthly walk-in appraisal days for the local community.

Roland earned an Advanced Certificate in 20th Century Decorative Art and Appraising from New York University. He is currently in the process of earning a membership to the American Society of Appraisers.

Having grown up in the shadow of the San Gabriels, Roland has a fondness for the outdoors that he shares with his wife and two daughters.
