She was the wife and artistic partner of fellow modern dancer Ted Shawn (1891-1972), the subject of lot 1065. A similar costume can be seen in the Denishawn production of Pas de Quatre or Sevillanos (a dance of old Spain) worn by Denishawn student, choreographer and Time magazine’s ''dancer of the century'' Martha Graham.
