  • Provenance: Estate of Robert Stafford, Claremont, CA, acquired directly from the artist
  • Notes: Rupert ''Rummy'' Deese was one of the notable group of artists working in Claremont, CA in the post war years, a group that included his fellow ceramicist Harrison McIntosh, with whom he shared a studio in Claremont for many years. A teacher at Mount San Antonio College, he also designed shapes and patterns for Franciscan Pottery. His works are held in many museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Walker Art Center
  • Condition: Overall good condition. Three small green felt pads affixed to underside.
