With a mahogany case replete with a spindled gallery top, turned corner columns, and openwork carving of two dragons above the inset glazing of the hinged, upper door, opening to reveal a printed allegorical image of one of the Muses of Greek Mythology, Erato, playing a lyre for the infant Hermes surrounded by putti on the rear interior wall and thirty-six, 27-inch metal discs, each for playing a different melody; set upon four metal casters

  • Condition: Overall good condition with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, shrinkage cracks, indentations, and separation at joints commensurate with age. As well, there is surface grime and dust to both in the interior and exterior. The image on the interior rear wall is tacked back up as it appears it came loose. Lacking crack arm. This music box was restored in 2013 according to an interior paper label reading: Christian Eric / Antique Music Box Restoration / Costa Mesa, CA / Dec. 2013.
