The ovoid lid with gadrooned and scrolled handle over a chased armorial of a boar's head erased with motto "Vi et Virtute" resting on an ovoid body centering an armorial crest, one half of which is used by the Bairds of Saughtonhall, flanked by gadrooned and scrolled handles raised on lion mask-crested paw feet

Notes: The crest likely the arms of Sir David Baird, 2nd Baronet of Newbyth, and his wife Lady Anne Kennedy, daughter of Sir Archibald Kennedy, 1st Marquess of Ailsa, married August 10, 1821.
