  • Provenance: Gifted by the artist to Matthew J. Culligan, by descent in the family to the present owner, Southern California
  • Notes: Matthew "Joe" Culligan served as a company commander in the United States Army in Europe during WWII. The patch over Culligan's left eye was from an injury he sustained after a German grenade exploded near him during the Battle of the Bulge in the Adrennes region of Belgium (December 16 - January 25, 1944). Together with a copy of a signed photograph of Culligan sitting with President John F. Kennedy in the Oval Office, two black and white photographic portraits of Culligan, and an original 14 December 1963 Saturday Evening Post magazine ''In Memoriam: A senseless tragedy'', that features a Rockwell portrait of President Kennedy on the cover
  • Condition: Visual: Generally good condition. Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight.
