  • Notes: This rare and exquisitely illustrated work is the product of forty years of labor, and one of the most expensively produced works on American mycology ever produced, at an estimated $50,000. William Gilson Farlow (1844 - 1919) was educated at Harvard, where he was appointed a professor of botany in 1874. The Farlow Herbarium is named after him. After his death, work on the ''Icones Falowianae'' was carried on by his former students, Roland Thaxter and Edward Angus Bart, along with Carroll William Dodge, Curator of the Farlow Library and Herbarium
  • Condition: Overall good condition. A very clean, unmarked copy with bright boards and lettering. No tears. All pages and plates present. Some minor spots of foxing to a few pages. Some off-setting to verso of plates. Very minor rubbed shelf wear. Corners sharp. A few white marks to rear board. Binding tight. Glassine jacket with tears, losses and curling.
