Lithograph in colors on paper laid to canvas
From the edition of unknown size
Acme Litho. Co., New York, NY, prntr., with their name and presumably the identifying number of this poster image (11184) printed in the lower right corner of the image
Image: 38.5" H x 26.25" W; Sheet: 40.75" H x 28" W

  • Provenance:
The Collection of Gary Diamond, Los Angeles, CA
  • Notes:
William Steiner Productions, Incorporated, is credited with the production of "The Loser's End," a silent film, released in 1924, which was written, directed, and starred Leo Maloney as Bruce Mason. In the film, cowhand Bruce Mason is framed and falsely accused of smuggling opium across the Texas-Mexico border near the ranch he works on. He walks, runs, rides and fights his way through many obstacles before he proves his innocence, and wins the hand of Lois Kincaid, daughter of the rancher.
  • Condition: Overall generally good appearance. Wide (possibly full) margins, and the colors fresh. Four generally unobtrusive flattened horizontal and one unobtrusive vertical flattened creases through the image, at least four of which are likely attendant with the original storage, mailing, and/or transport of the sheet to the movie houses. Other scattered short creases, handling creases, and some short, skillfully repaired creases or splits, primarily related to the original flattened creases just mentioned. The white lettering of "Leo Moloney" in the lower portion of the image appears to be overpainted with white pigment. A few very short tears and creases at the margin edges. The sheet is backed with canvas, as mentioned, and is framed floating, hinged to the back mat in places from the verso of the margin edges. Not examined out of the frame.

    Framed under glass: 43" H x 29" W x 2" D
