    Other notes:
Artist and curator Tom Burkhardt's 2004-2005 installation "Full Stop," an art experience that included the present element, was a significant departure from his boldly graphic and colorful painting practice.

This immersive, large-scale replication of the artist's studio faithfully recorded the studio contents in detail in collaged and painted cardboard and paper elements. Nothing was overlooked in Burkhardt's obsessive attention to detail: the object-filled bookshelf, ladder and box of art books represented here, a window with a view of the city, a complete bathroom and a scattering of artistic materials and tools including stretched canvases, stretchers, paints and paintbrushes, hammers, and, meaningfully, a blank canvas on an easel. The fleeting moment in time was further enhanced by foot and shoeprints on the floor, drips of intentionally errant paint, open books and cans of soup, as if the artist just exited of the studio.

The title "Full Stop" suggests both a pause and a decisive mark. By collapsing the boundaries between painting, collage, and sculpture, the work invited viewers to physically move through and experience painting as a spatial, almost theatrical encounter rather than a flat surface confined to the wall. Now disassembled, the present components from "Full Stop" become their own art experience, both playful and complex.
  • Condition: Overall good condition with minor handling wear commensurate with age. Please note, the ladder does not open and is not functional.

Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding.
