PAIR OF LOUIS XVI STYLE GILT-BRONZE WALL-LIGHTS

50 H x 18 W

  • Notes: The wall-lights offered here are based on a model made by Pierre Gouthiere after wax models by Francois-Joseph Belanger made for the duchesse de Mazarin in 1781. A single wall-light of this model, lacking the ribbon-tied upper section, which is in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu, is illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, P. Proschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. I, p.243, fig.4.5.12.
  • Condition: Generally good overall condition. Light marks and scratches to surface. With roughness and inherent flaws to casting of backplates. A rather bright gold tone to gilding. Shades in good condition with light scratches.
