  • Notes: The enthusiastic boy looks admiringly up at the old soldier who wears the red Liberty Bonnet of the French Revolution (1789-1799). He gazes wistfully at and points to the shelf with toy soldiers. A third, middle-aged man stands looking into the room from the shadows, with a weary and distracted expression.
  • Condition: Visual: Stable craquelure throughout. Frame abrasion along the four edges. The edge of the original canvas is visible along the upper edge. A 1.25" area of paint loss along the upper edge center. Tiny dots of gold frame paint lightly scattered along the perimeter. Surface dirt and grime.

    Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight. Difficult to read under heavy varnish.

    Frame: 24.5" H x 21.75" W x 3" D
