  • Notes:
Both works include a statement affixed to the matting board stating: "The genuineness of this print is guaranteed by S.M. Shiba Miyanoshita." These are likely later 19th century examples using the original blocks.
  • Condition: "Ishiyakushi" and "Ôiso," with pale-light staining and the colors attenuated. Artist pinholes at each corner. The thick paper that the woodcut is laid to has thin paper tape along the extreme left, upper, and lower edges. As mentioned, the work is laid to thick paper and tipped to the back mat from the verso of the upper right corner. "Ishiyakushi," with pale, scattered spots of unobtrusive staining in the image. The woodcut from the "Ogura Hyakunin Isshu" series with pale light-staining and the colors slightly attenuated, minor handling marks, minor surface soiling scattered throughout, staining and a piece of white paper residue on both the recto and verso of the lower right corner, and other minor defects. The sheet is loose, not matted.

    Each unframed

Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others.
