  • Notes: It was Jules Cheret whose unique combination of artistic, technical and entrepreneurial talents was to pave the way for a true poster industry. After Cheret opened his own print shop in Paris in1866, his work continued to inspire emulators in Europe and America. From 1881 on, his shop operated as a branch of the large Chaix firm.
  • Condition: The paper is rippled and has been folded once vertically and three times horizontally with visible fold creases. Toning to the paper. Small areas of paper loss lightly scattered throughout, concentrated mostly, but not limited to, the fold lines. The largest being pea-sized. Light handling creases scattered throughout. Not examined out of the frame.
