Meiji era (1868-1912), with painted Shimazu family crest over maker's cartouche to underside, inscribed in kanji to a gilt collar reserve, surmounted by a lion-dog, the pierced domed top over a squat circular body flanked by squared handles, raised on three outswept mask-headed feet, intricately gilt and polychrome painted to each face with figural scenes, geometric motifs, medallions and dragons on a white glazed ground, 13.25'' H x 10.625'' W x 9.5'' D, est: $500/800.
