  • Notes: The present work tells a story from the Middle High German epic poem, The Nibelungenlied, in which Kriemhild dreams that two eagles attack a falcon. Her mother, Queen Uote, interprets the dream to mean that the falcon represents a nobleman whom Kriemhild will marry but will soon afterwards be taken from her. Inscriptions in ink in another hand on the painting's paper backing and on paper affixed to the backing panel
  • Condition: Visual: Generally good condition. Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight.
