Hans J. Wegner was a Danish furniture designer and a key figure in the Scandinavian Modern movement. Wegner designed more than 500 chairs, many of which became iconic such as the Wishbone Chair (CH24), the Papa Bear Chair (AP19).

Wegner was born in 1914, in Tonder, Denmark, a town near Germany. Throughout his career, he worked primarily in Denmark, collaborating with renowned manufacturers such as Carl Hansen & Son, PP Mobler, Johannes Hansen, and Fritz Hansen. He passed away in 2007, in a suburb of Copenhagen. His designs are in many top museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Design Museum in London, the Vitra Design Museum in Germany and the Danish Design Museum in Copenhagen.
