  • Notes: The present landscape depicts Sugarloaf Ridge overlooking Jack London's 'Beauty Ranch' in Sonoma County. Otis painted this landscape for Charmian London, widow of author Jack London, in 1934. When London died in 1916, Charmian devoted herself to saving their home and ranch lands and lived there until her death in 1955. In her will, Charmian requested that the house be converted into a museum honoring her husband. This bequest was the start of Jack London State Historical Park which opened in 1959. Included with the lot is the exhibition catalogue ''The California Collection: George Demont Otis (1879-1962) American Impressionist''
  • Condition: Visual: Generally good condition. Craquelure throughout. Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight.
