CHANEL: A Black "Caséine de Lait" Faux Fur Coat

Circa 2002
Label: Chanel / Made in France / Dry Clean
A new black faux-fur soft pile long cardigan coat made of milk casein fiber and wool, with two side slip-in pockets, and silk lining

Size 42; bust: 20 in.; sleeves: 25 in.; length: 37 in.

  • Notes:
Milk casein fiber was first used by the Germans in WWI. Italian chemist Antonio Ferretti improved on the first design in 1930 by developing a smoother fiber with practical uses. The fiber is smoother and softer than wool, as it does not have the scale structure of wool. It is chemically similar to wool, and absorbs moisture quickly. Milk fiber is regaining interest and popularity as manufacturers and consumers look for alternatives to synthetic materials for clothing and accessories.
  • Condition: Overall very good condition, new with original retail tags. Light creasing commensurate with storage. With Chanel garment bag.
Stated tag sizes may not reflect true sizing. Please refer to dimensions provided when bidding. Some items have been altered.

Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
