After Robert Rauschenberg

(1925-2008)

"Cardboards" announcement card for two concurrent exhibitions at Leo Castelli, NY, NY, 1971

Printed announcement in colors on corrugated cardboard
From the edition of unknown but presumably large size, many of which were not retained by the recipients
With the signature printed as part of the image: Rauschenberg; titled as part of the image; Leo Castelli Gallery and Leo Castelli Graphics, New York, NY, prntr./pub.
Image/Cardboard: 5" H x 8" W

  • Notes:
This work was printed as part of an unknown, but presumably large, edition of announcement cards advertising the simultaneous opening of Rauschenberg's "Cardboards," a joint exhibition at Leo Castelli Gallery (420 West 87th Street) and Castelli Graphics (4 East 77th Street) in New York City on October 16, 1971.
  • Condition: Overall generally good appearance. The cardboard with two vertical creases to the right of center, the longest of which extends between the upper and lower edges, most likely as issued due to the fact that this crease aligns with a printing irregularity in the lettering along the upper (the "W" of "B'WAY") and along the lower edges (the "T" of "East"). The cardboard is mounted to the backmat. Not examined out of the frame.

    Framed under glass: 10" H x 13" W x 1.25" D

Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
