Late 19th/early 20th century, marked ''916'' and with partially rubbed maker's mark ''TA'' below flowers, likely for Talleres de Arte, Madrid, stamped verso ''3025'', centered by a repousse-decorated green man bordered by chased and repousse-decorated foliate and geometric bands within a deeply reeded surround, rising to a foliate and interlacing strapwork-decorated rim, 0.5'' H x 14.25'' Dia., 26.535 oz troy approximately, est: $500/700. Note: Talleres de Arte was a liturgical art workshop founded by Spanish Roman Catholic priest Felix Granda y Alvarez Bulylla (1868-1954) in 1891. Located at the Hotel de las Rosas in the Altos del Hipodromo in Madrid, the Talleres de Arte employed over 200 artisans by 1900, including goldsmiths, metalworkers, carvers, sculptors, painters, carpenters, and tailors. A similar charger featuring identical marks and further inscribed and dated with an attribution to Felix Granada was sold by Heritage Auctions, September 2011 (lot# 86453; price realized: $1800).

  • Condition: Overall good condition. General marks, scratches, rubbed wear and tarnishing commensurate with age. Scattered dings and dents to repousse decoration; the largest an approximately .125'' x .125'' pushed-in area to reeding. Scattered repairs, primarily around circumference of bowl at joint with rim.
