Edo period (first quarter 20th century), the gilt metal-mounted hinged doors opening to a second set of hinged semi-opaque fabric-lined doors below a lotus-motif relief-carved giltwood panel, the gilt and black lacquered interior decorated with gilt metal mounts and foliate-carved and painted panels, raised overall atop an arrangement of one long drawer and one cabinet with dual sliding doors, on a conforming rectangular base fitted with a single drawer, raised on an associated contemporary squared plinth, the butsudan only: 62'' H x 21'' W x 19.25'' D, est: $600/900.

  • Condition: The plinth: 21'' H x 22.875'' W x 20.5'' D. Overall good condition, with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks and wear commensurate with age. An approximately 3'' x 3'' area of sticky residue to interior of cabinet. Interior slide-out tray lacking pull. Previously electrified; wiring has been cut. One 10''-long shrinkage crack to each side of lower case.
