Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, each with maker's marks, a five-piece lot comprising: the first: circa 1910, model #11610, a dual-handled spreading cylindrical vase hand-painted and incised with a crane and kingfisher (14'' H x 4.875'' W x 5'' D); the second: circa 1920s, with a tulip-shaped neck over a cylindrical body flaring to a wide circular foot, decorated with geometric and abstracted raised decoration (13.375'' H x 5.625'' Dia.); the third: circa 1920s, with a spreading cylindrical neck over a squat outset body, all-over decorated in relief with stylized foliage and Gres-Bijous ceramic ''jewels'' (4'' H x 7.5'' Dia.); the fourth: circa 1894, model #685, the cylindrical body with rounded shoulders issuing two scrolled handles meeting the elongated bulbous neck rising to a flared rim, overall glazed in blue-green and mottled purple, gilt-painted to one face with a moth set with Gres-Bijous ceramic ''jewels'' (7.125'' H x 4'' Dia.); the fifth: circa 1910, model #11683, with a bulbous body issuing four ''jeweled'' handles meeting the tapering neck just below the slightly flaring rim, 5 pieces, est: $1000/1500.


  • Provenance: Estate of Francis Crunk, Altadena, CA
  • Condition: The first with restorations, wear and darkening to gold-painted areas. The second with inherent stable firing cracks between neck and body and scattered firing imperfections to enameling. The third with scattered light scratches primarily concentrated to rim. The fourth with scattered minute spots of lighter discoloration to body and minor cracking to raised moth; moth with a an approximately .125''-long loss to edge of one wing. The fifth with pinholes to interior base of each arm likely executed at time of firing, wear to gold decoration and enameled ''jewels'' and scattered scratches commensurate with age.
