A Gorham Victorian sterling coffee/tea service

- Notes: Note: A centerpiece with the same Greek key molding and alternating female and male masks is illustrated C.H. Carpenter, Jr. Gorham Silver. San Francisco: 1997, p. 55, fig. 53. A related service, including a tipping kettle and tray, commissioned by the Americus club for Henry Smith in 1870 was sold Christie's, New York, 25 June, 1991, lot 27 ($14,300)
- Condition: The teapot: 11 x 9.5 x 6.25; the cream jug: 6.75 x 6 x 3; the sugar bowl: 6.75 x 5.75. Very well chased and modelled. General marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Cream jug with gilt-washed interior. Sugar bowl with pin sized scratches to interior. Also with some dings to back. Cream jug with a few very slight dings to surface. Teapot with some very slight dings to surface and also with some spotting. Base with minor dent to edge. Handle somewhat loose, would benefit from securing. Coffeepot with some minor uneveness to and a few very slight dings. Lion finials with polish residue in crevices. Some typical tarnishing to pieces overall.
