- Provenance: The Collection of M. Lambert Violet (of La Maison Violet, makers of Byrrh); with Cannell & Chaffin, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, circa 1930 and acquired by a relative of the present owner. Thence by descent to the present family member.
- Condition: Later marble. Marble with extensive competent repairs - the most noticeable, a 1 x 3 patched strip to front right corner. Pine frame. Gilding largely original, with rubbing, chipping and small losses overall revealing red bole, white gesso and bare wood. Refreshment to gilding overall. In some areas, restored with gold paint. With a few scattered nails in legs randomly - do not appear at all structural and they are quite small. Dirt accumulation to stretcher. With minor nicked losses to carved elements. With typical cracking to stretcher. Typical separation at joints of legs, all commensurate with age. "
