1891, U.S. marked #138236, .45 caliber, 5.5" barrel, blue finish, non-matching numbers, accompanied by an authentication certificate from Colt Archive Properties LLC., stating that this gun was originally sold to the United States Government and delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt plant on February 17, 1891, and was one of 200 same type guns in shipment, est:$7000/9000 Note: This revolver was carried in the Battle of San Juan Hill on July 1st, 1898 by Sgt. Albert P. Wright, Regimental Color Sergeant of Colonel Theodore Roosevelt's 1st US Volunteer Cavalry, better known as the ''Rough Riders''. One of the most famous volunteer fighting forces in American history, the Rough Riders' heroic actions at San Juan Hill were key to the American victory in the Spanish American War. Originally from Yuma, AZ, Sergeant Wright served with Roosevelt in Cuba from May 1st, 1898 until September 1898, when the regiment was mustered out. He held the revolver in his possession after the war, and it then passed to Herbert D. Lore, proprietor of the Painted Desert Inn and Lore Trading Post in the Four Corners region.   • Condition: Good condition overall. General wear commensurate with age. Mechanically sound with evidence of light use and no restoration. Nickel finish shows wear and areas of light chipping. Screw heads appear intact and unworn. Front sight blade slightly bent and scuffed. A gouge .25" in length to cylinder. Barrel has been cut down.
