A Chinese embroidered silk ceremonial robe

The handstitched large robe back panel in blue/grey striped silk fabric with wide, shaped sleeves, the back of the robe with elaborate appliqued multi-colored silk and metal-wrapped thread embroidered elements featuring Taoist imagery including a central medallion with a pagoda and dragon motif, surrounded by five roundels depicting various Immortals with attendants, and with cranes, bats, rabbits, pheasants, and other multiple various auspicious motifs overall, and with the embroidered border at the hem depicting the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, with four pink lotus blossoms; the robe laid flat and professionally mounted and framed

  • Condition: Overall good condition with light dust accumulation and minor creasing commensurate with age. Scattered faint blotchy stains, small areas of dye transfer, and small marks to areas. A few loose stitches and scattered minor wear to metal-wrapped threads.

    Likely back panel only. Archival framing limits confirmation, as not examined out of frame.

In circumstances where Moran arranges for such third-party services, Moran may apply an administration charge of 15% of that service fee. Moran assumes no responsibility for acts or omissions in such packing or shipping by other packers or carriers, even if recommended by Moran. Moran also assumes no responsibility for any damage to picture frames or to the glass therein.
