Morgana Blackwelder has been in the antique business since 2004.
Morgana joined Moran’s full time in 2007 as a client service specialist. In this position, she was pivotal in the expansion of the jewelry department and creating stand-alone sales in coordination with the sale director. During this same time, Morgana became one of Moran’s fine art cataloguers and found her true love of fine art.
After taking a sabbatical to travel the world, she has returned to a full-time position as our Director of Fine Art.
In 2016 Morgana was promoted to Director of Fine Art. Since then she has expanded Moran’s fine art department over 300% and now oversees eight dedicated fine art auctions including, bi-annual Prints and Multiples auction, quarterly Studio Fine Art Auctions and Moran’s best known bi-annual California and American fine art auctions. In addition, she oversees all fine art that is incorporated in Moran’s Furniture and Decorative Arts auction. Her daily activities include client relations, valuating incoming property, appraisal functions, overseeing the fine art cataloguing through to production, auction staging and set-up, as well as leading Moran’s “On the Road” valuation team.
Prior to joining John Moran Auctioneers Morgana worked as a dealer of fine and decorative art in the Pasadena area in her family business.
Morgana gained her Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice certificate in 2016. She also has her AA in Art History and is working towards completing her Bachelors of the Arts degree. She continues to take continuing education through the International Society of Appraisers and American Association of Appraisers.
In her spare time can be found visiting the Pacific North West, finding new travel locations overseas and exploring her passion for road cycling.
