David Trujillo is a Moran’s Fine Art Specialist and lead specialist in Modern, Post-War and Contemporary art.

David began his career studying Art History at the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated with Latin Honors in 2011. During his senior year, he received a full scholarship from the University to continue his studies in the Master’s Program, receiving his MA in Art History with a concentration in photographic processes in 2012.

After graduation, David began his career at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, where he quickly rose from working in Client Services to becoming Associate Specialist and lead Cataloguer for the Fine Art Department. In that capacity, David oversaw all authentication research and outreach for the department and was instrumental in the consignment and sale of major works by Victor Vasarely, Gene Davis, Willem de Kooning, and Roger Brown. His work at Leslie Hindman led to a position as a Junior Specialist at Paddle8, where he was brought on to the Los Angeles team to assist in West Coast client development. In that capacity, David worked on Paddle8’s monthly auctions, curated auctions, and private sales, developing a deft hand in working with major collectors and institutions.

This experience served David well in his role as Advisor, Appraiser, and Brokerage Manager at Jason Preston Art Advisory & Appraisals. Specializing in large estate appraisals and brokerage, David focused on Modern, Post-War, and Contemporary Art for private and institutional clients, including individual works and collections ranging from $50,000 to $1.5 million. Projects and clients included the Owlwood Estate of Beverly Hills and the estate of noted Southern California architect and designer, Cleo Baldon.

David joined Moran’s at the beginning of 2018 to assist not only with California plein air art, but with the increasing number of Modern and Post-War works coming to the firm. His breadth of knolwedge and familiarty with a wide range of media have made him an indispensible part of the team, and he looks forward to expanding Moran’s offerings as the company continues to grow.

David is a member of The University of Notre Dame Snite Museum of Art Advisory Counil and New Art Advisor’s Alliance and is currently in the process of obtaining his accreditation from the Appraiser’s Association of America.
