Morgana Blackwelder is Senior Vice President and Director of Trusts and Estates at John Moran Auctioneers, where she leads the Trusts & Estates department with a focus on building lasting relationships with estate planning professionals and providing comprehensive solutions for clients managing art and personal property collections.
With over twenty years of experience in the fine art and luxury sector, Morgana is recognized for her expertise in the management, valuation, appraisal, and strategic sale of extensive collections, including 19th and 20th century California, American, Western, and Post-War fine art, as well as prints and multiples.
As Director, Morgana oversees a dedicated team, guiding clients and fiduciaries through every stage of the consignment process-from initial walkthroughs and appraisals to curating selections for auction and managing logistics. Her holistic approach ensures that each client receives tailored advice and seamless service, whether the goal is estate planning, insurance, charitable donation, or downsizing. Morgana’s leadership has contributed to more than $500 million in auction sales, underscoring her ability to achieve optimal outcomes for both private and institutional clients.
Morgana is a USPAP-compliant and qualified appraiser, holding Accredited Member status with both the Appraisers Association of America and the International Society of Appraisers, with a specialization in Fine Art. She is a sought-after speaker on art valuation and market trends, regularly presenting to industry groups and contributing to educational programs, including guest lectures at Claremont Graduate University.
Her academic background includes studies in Fine Art and Art History at California State University, Los Angeles, and advanced coursework in Art Business at Sotheby’s, University of Manchester, UK.
