  • Notes: Note: Jean Jacques Dessalines (September 20, 1758 - October 17, 1806) was the leader of the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804) and after independence crowned himself Emperor of Haiti in 1804. A group of members in his administration, including Henri Christophe (October 6, 1767 - October 8, 1820) conspired and conducted a coup d'etat against Dessalines in 1806. The revolt lead to the assassination of the Emperor that same year. Henri Christophe became President of the State of Haiti on 17 February 1807. He was proclaimed King of Haïti on 26 March 1811. Christophe committed suicide on October 8, 1820
  • Condition: the smaller: 17.5 x 10 x 6. General marks and scratches to surface. With some painted composition detail cracking and with losses, particularly to hats. Some cracking to timber overall. With rubbing and minor chipped losses to painted decoration overall.
