Comprising the upper torso of Vishnu, his face with almond eyes framed by raised eyebrows and surmounted by a crisply carved tall jeweled lotiform headdress, adorned with beaded jewelry; a head of Surya, wearing a tall foliate headdress centered by a jewel; and a double-sided relief, each with two kneeling or seated figures, one side Shiva with possibly Brahma, the other Chamunda with possibly Shiva, 3 pieces

  • Notes: Compare the torso of Vishnu with another from the collection of Ariane Dandois which sold for $1,625 (see Christie's sale 1878, lot 73, on September 21, 2007).
  • Condition: Each with superficial abrasion and some nicks and scratches, consistent with age and material. The torso with losses to the tips of the nose and lips, and with orange polychromy remaining. The head with losses to the tips of the nose, lips, and ears. The relief with losses to the fronts of the faces.

Buyers are responsible for arranging their own shipping estimates and deliveries. Moran, in its sole discretion and as a courtesy to buyers, may arrange to have purchased lots packed, insured, and forwarded by a third-party shipper at the request, expense, and risk of the buyer. In circumstances where Moran arranges for such third-party services, Moran may apply an administration charge of 15% of that service fee. Moran assumes no responsibility for acts or omissions in such packing or shipping by other packers or carriers, even if recommended by Moran. Moran also assumes no responsibility for any damage to picture frames or to the glass therein.
