Note: Cosindas studied with photographers Paul Caponigro and Minor White and attended workshops with Ansel Adams in the early 1960s. In 1962, the artist was one of a dozen photographers invited by the Polaroid Corporation to test their new instant-development film. Although she worked initially in black and white, she moved to color photography after her experiences with Polaroid film. Evocative and complex still lifes, like the present works, are among her most celebrated subjects. In 1966, Cosindas was the fifth woman to have a show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. .
