Bertha Lum (1869-1954 San Francisco, CA)

gouache, wash and graphite with painted gilt highlights on board
32'' H x 22'' W

  • Provenance: Private Estate, Pasadena, CA
  • Notes: The present work was a collaboration between Bertha Lum and her second daughter Eleanor 'Peter' Lum, who was an artist and travel writer. It's likely that Bertha executed the drawing and Peter was responsible for the painted 'coloring'
  • Condition: Visual: A diagonal surface scrape across the lower center with a small area of loss near the bottom of the bow. Shorter, more minor scrapes in the lower center, in the upper right and lower left corners and an abrasion on the figure's left arm and torso. A surface abrasion just above the arrow along the left center edge. Foxing in the right center. Surface dirt and grime. Not examined out of the frame.
