An Art Deco Gold and Glass Vanity Set, Cartier

Each piece with Chinese style font monogram, comprising 3 brushes, each with silk bristle guard bands, 1 hand mirror, 1 shoe horn, 1 nail file, 1 nail buffer and case, 1 box, 1 button hook, 2 silver gilt manicure scissors, 1 comb handle, 1 powder puff and powder jar, 8 various jars, two perfume bottles with daubers, and a small oval tray, all housed in a blue leather handled case with brass hardware, with canvas cover, with a two-level fitted moiré silk taffeta-lined interior, 25 pieces, Each item except scissors marked for 14K gold; scissors marked 14K and STERLING, blades marked 'WB KERR GERMANY'; each further marked: G 1900 BO or D 4270 BO Cartier, circa 1920s.
Case: 8" H x 24 1/2" W x 16" D; mirror: 12 1/8" H x 5" W x 1/3" D

  • Condition: The case and items in overall good condition.
    Tears at the corners of the canvas cover. Outer case with scuffing, scratching, mild soiling, and bumping to corners. As well, the handle leather is cracked with some losses to the leather and one strap is separated at one end. Oxidation to hinges.
    Interior case with scattered minor scuffs and scratches. Each case interior with scratches and light soiling to the fabric. Two straps detached at one end. Area near brush guard with fraying and deterioration to moiré lining.
    Perfume bottle D4270 has replaced glass.
    Scratching and loss of silvering to mirror. Each vanity item with minor scratches or tiny dents to the gold and rubbing to the monogram, the silver components with mild oxidation. The brushes with a few scattered frayed bristles at the edges. The case monogrammed "FBP" and stamped ‘Cartier New York Paris London.'

Moran, in its sole discretion and as a courtesy to buyers, may arrange to have purchased lots packed, insured, and forwarded by a third-party shipper at the request, expense, and risk of the buyer. In circumstances where Moran arranges for such third-party services, Moran may apply an administration charge of 15% of that service fee. Moran assumes no responsibility for acts or omissions in such packing or shipping by other packers or carriers, even if recommended by Moran. Moran also assumes no responsibility for any damage to picture frames or to the glass therein.
