  • Notes: Alson Clark was an inveterate traveler and particularly enjoyed visiting locations that were not typically frequented by American painters. Shortly before the outbreak of WWI that would force Clark to leave Europe, the artist and his wife Medora travelled to Dalmatia, today's Croatia, in 1914. There he produced a number of charming depictions of the area, its architecture and the Dalmatian people including the present work
