  • Provenance: Property from the Collection of Teri Garr, Los Angeles, CA

"Camera Work" was a quarterly photographic journal published by Alfred Stieglitz between January of 1903 and June of 1917. Alongside erudite art discussions and exhibition reviews, it presented high-quality photogravures by some of the most important photographers in the world, with the goal of promoting photography as a fine art. The photogravures were all printed under Stieglitz's supervision (and then tipped into the journals by hand) in order to better represent subtle gradations of tone and value. The results were seen as a major advancement over the typical halftone reproductions that appeared in other publications of the time.
  • Condition: Overall good condition. With possibly full margins, deckled along the left and lower edges. A series of very soft ripples along the upper portion of the right margin edge, not affecting the image. The sheet is hinged to the back mat from the verso of the upper margin corners.

    Framed under Plexiglas: 14.75" H x 15.5" W x 0.5" D

Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
