A Sioux beaded hide vest, by Archie Burnett

With white beaded front panels in pictorial motifs, and light beaded embellishments to reverse in an orange lightning motif

  • Provenance: The James M. Cole Collection, Visalia, CA
  • Notes: Collector's notes indicate Archie Burnett (Sioux) and his wife (Cheyenne) beaded this vest with symbols from the peyote ceremony that tell a story.
    This vest is intended to be worn and is fully functional as a special occasion piece.
  • Condition: Overall good condition with light wear commensurate with age and use. Missing one row of four orange beads at lower right front edge. Wide crease to center back.
