  • Notes: The Haas brothers consist of a collaboration between twin brothers, Nikolai and Simon Haas (b. 1984). They were born in Los Angeles, CA, raised in Austin, TX, and currently reside in Los Angeles. They come from a family very involved in the arts. Their mother, Emily Tracy, was an opera singer, and their father, Berthold Haas, was a sculptor. Their older brother is the actor, Lukas Haas. Nikolai trained in music and Simon studied the arts.

In 2010, they opened their studio and created furniture and sculptures for high-profile clients including Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Tobey Maguire, and Peter Marino.

Their work is a mélange between fine art and utilitarian design and explores nature, science fiction, and psychedelia, often in a playful and humorous way, featuring fantastical creatures and organic shape. Their materials consist of brass, porcelain, resin, and polyurethane.

The Haas brothers have had solo and group shows. In 2018 their acclaim grew after their solo exhibition at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami, FL. Their works are also in the collection of The Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York, NY; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, MA; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA; Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Providence, RI; and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY.
