A Riviere Studios "Wisteria" table lamp

Appears unmarked
The three-light lamp with hand wrought tree-form base, possibly copper plated metal with the "antique verde" patination variant, surmounted by a cast and conformingly patinated metal shade issuing leaded hand-cut glass elements to depict the rich blue hues of a wisteria tree in full bloom
Overall: 24" H x 17" Dia.; Shade: 13.5" H x 17" Dia.

  • Provenance: Sotheby Parke Bernet, Los Angeles, November 18, 1974, lot 78
  • Condition: Overall good condition with scattered scuffs, scratches, dust accumulation, and oxidation commensurate with age. Scattered rubbed wear to the secondary patina, revealing the antiqued primary patina. Glass issues include but not limited to several pieces with single cracks concentrated to lower areas, one with pea-sized conchoidal surface chip. Lamp has been rewired with updated fixtures. Wiring should be checked by a qualified electrician prior to use. Moran's does not guarantee the working condition of electronic equipment.

Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
