    Included in this lot is an envelope housing three photographs of the work before restoration in 1977. One of the photographs shows an inscription that appears to be on the verso of the original canvas before being relined. This lot is titled from the description of the sitter from the photograph. The inscription reads: W.M.W Prior / Sept 3. 1853 / Marion L. Wardwell / age 2 years as / of June 1853
  • Condition: Visual: Overall good condition. Small flecks of pigment loss throughout the neck, shoulders, and chest of figure. Craquelure throughout.

    Blacklight: Two large areas of touch-ups in the lower left and right quadrants in the background, and a few small touch-ups in the face, neck, and chest of figure.

    Frame: 28.75" H x 34" W x 2.25" D

Moran also assumes no responsibility for any damage to picture frames or to the glass therein.
