Frederick Stuart Church (1842-1924) was an artist, working mainly as an illustrator and especially known for his (often allegorical) depiction of animals. He gained a name as a gifted illustrator. Among the many magazines and periodicals which eventually took up his works were the various Harper’s publications. In 1883, Church was elected into the National Academy Of Design.
