John Moran Auctioneers Announces Fall 2015 Move to Monrovia, CA


ALTADENA, CA – John Moran Auctioneers is excited to announce their upcoming move from Altadena, CA, to a new, all-in-one auction, office and warehouse facility located at 145 East Walnut Avenue in Monrovia, CA.

John Moran founded his auction company in Pasadena in 1969 with only two employees; John Moran Auctioneers now employs two dozen full and part-time employees and hosts nearly monthly auction events. Today, Moran’s specializes in California and American fine art, jewelry, silver, Native American objects, European decorative arts and Mid-Century Modern design, with nearly a third of each auction selling online to collectors worldwide.

John Moran and company are thrilled about the move, with the new location expected to be fully operational in time for the fall 2015 auction season. >

First half 20th century, inscribed to back of frame ''Madonna of the Star and Two Angels by Fra Angelico / Copied by Ceccherini'' and stamped ''Giovanni Masini / (illegible) / Florence / Wholesale & Retail Export (illegible) Dealers,'' oil on gilt panel, the central panel depicting the Madonna and child, the flanking hinged side panels depicting angels, within a carved Gothic-style giltwood hinged frame, closed, 20.5'' H x 9'' W x 2.5'' D, est: $1000/1500
*Price Realized: $812.50


Condition: Open: 15'' W. Scratches, marks and rubbing to gilt surfaces. Shrinkage cracks to underside of frame. Separation to parts of frame at joins. Doors close tightly. Rubbing and oxidation to surface of oil paint- images were apparently painted directly onto gilt panel without ground preparation. Not examined under blacklight.
