Modeled by Charles Noke and introduced in 1936, with makers, title and edition number 77 of 600 to underside, decorated with a blacksmith in his shop with village figures and horseshoes, marked ''Longfellow / 1842'' to one side of handle, 8'' H x 9'' W x 6'' D, est:$500/800
8'' H x 9'' W x 6'' D. Note: This piece was designed by Charles Noke as a dedication to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem romanticizing the earnest, hardworking blacksmith in a small hamlet. Number 128 of this series was sold Bonham's, Chester, UK, April 5, 2005, lot 72 (500 British Pounds Sterling). Number 491 of this series was sold, Ritchie's Auctioneers, Toronto, Canada, March 6, 2006, lot 1025 ($1,200). Condition: Very good condition overall. Only light wear evident. Colors vibrant. AS-IS.
