Russian icon, Virgin (?) silver oklad, 19th c, The oklad 1888, Kostroma, with maker's mark ''SZYa'' and assayer ''AF'', depicting the Virgin(?), est:$1000/1500
8.75'' W x 7'' D. Provenance: Property from a San Marino Estate. Condition: Unable to remove oklad from icon with out damaging silver. Oklad heavily tarnished. With some tears at sides, some around affixing nails. Some bending to silver, particularly to halo. With a few diamond lace elements missing from halo. Some loss of paint to icon evident in open areas of silver. With a faded green velvet cover to back of icon. Some dirt accumulation overall. AS-IS. ALL SALES FINAL
