Provenance: According to the current owner, this piece was in the collection of King Farouk I of Egypt, acquired from the Koubbeh Palace sale on 12-15, 17-18 February 1954 (no receipt extant); thence by descent to the present family member. (The current owner is willing to provide further information to the purchaser). Condition: Structurally quite sound. Exterior worn, with fading, scuffs, tears and small losses to leather. Would benefit from restoration and reconditioning. Hinged top with what appears to be faint writing in paint. Handles to sides with only riveted bottom sections remaining. With remnants of two French customs labels to front door, one dated ''19. 4. 66''. Bottom hasp to front door lacking. Metal quite oxidized. Interior quite clean. With a moisture stain to upper right corner of quilted top. Interiors of drawers with light spotting, retaining original straps and covers. With a moderate musty tobacco odor. No key. This trunk was used for travel by the owners after its acquisition from Koubbeh Palace sale.
