Note: Gio Ponti was born in Milan in 1891 and graduated with a degree in architecture from the Milano Politechnico in 1921. Two years later, Ponti became Artistic Director for the renowned ceramics firm of Richard Ginori, where during his seven year tenure he transformed the company into a paradigm of modern industrial design. He focused on simple forms and neoclassic inspiration. This model, in the same color palette, was sold, Gio Ponti: A Collection, Sotheby?s, Milan, April 18, 2005, lot 13 (10,560 Euros). Provenance: Acquired by the present owner from the Estate of Red Skelton. Condition: Good condition overall. Colors quite deep and rich. General light marks and scratches to surface commensurate with age. With a fine craquelure to surface overall. Does not affect stability of surface.
