Late 19th/early 20th century, Newark, New Jersey, with maker's mark and further marked ''14K G 1900'' and with additional reference marks, comprising a pair of scent bottles (6 x 3''), a pair of small table boxes (1.5 x 2.25''), a powder box (3.25 x 5''), a brush (9.75 x 2.75''), a hand mirror (12.25 x 5''), a shoehorn (7 x 2''), a buttonhook (8 x .75'') & a pair of scissors (4.25 x 1.75''), monogrammed ''CBS'', 10 pcs, weighable 14K gold (3 lids & shoehorn), 235 grams, est:$2000/3000

235 grams. Note: William B. Kerr was an independent silver and goldsmith working in Newark, New Jersey from the 1880s until 1927 when his firm merged with Gorham. He was particularly renowned for producing fine vanity articles and sets. Provenance: Property From the Estate of C.B. Sweet, Lumber & Railroad Pioneer, Beverly Hills, CA and thence by descent to the present family member. Condition: Good condition overall. Glass elements very nicely etched. General marks, scratches and some rubbing commensurate with age and use. With some dirt accumulation to scent bottles. One small box with crack to glass at rim, under lid. Shoehorn with slight bend. Scissor blades oxidized. Some spotting to tip of buttonhook. Set would benefit from a light cleaning overall.
