30'' H x 25'' W. Note: An older label affixed to stretcher reads the following: Margaret - third daughter of James Christie of Durie. Wife of James Irvine Boswell of Kingcausie, Aberdeenshire, whose father was Lord Balmuto, a Scottish judge and nephew of Dr. Johnson's biographer. Condition: Visual: Minor stable craquelure throughout. Blacklight: Spots of touch-up concentrated mainly on the woman's hair with a few minor spots on the shoulders, face and chest. A vertical 2'' repair with touch-up in the left center quadrant. Older restoration evident to the left and right of the figure's neck. Touch-up along the edges. Older varnish fluoresces.
