A Renaissance style carved alabaster ewer
Late 19th c, the ruffled spout above entwined dolphins extending to an entwined dolphin-form handle over a tapering body carved with acanthus leaves and centering a female mask, over a flared gadrooned collar, on a square base with canted corners above a conforming wooden plinth, 39'' H x 15'' W, est:$600/900
39'' H x 15'' W. Provenance: Property of a Private Pasadena, CA Collector. Condition: In three sections: spout, handle and body with attached plinth. Very nicely carved. With various cracks, chipped losses and repairs to surface overall, commensurate with age- as visible in catalogue photos.
