Last quarter 19th century, signed lower right ''E. Pages'', figure depicted in a coralene embellished gilt Renaissance style gown and hat, holding a bouquet of flowers against a gilt and cobalt foliate scroll ground, the plaque, 27.5'' H x 15.5'' W, est:$5000/7000

27.5'' H x 15.5'' W. Note: Coralene is a late 19th century form of decoration on glass and porcelain involving tiny glass beads applied and then fused to the surface. The resulting effect bore a strong resemblance to coral. Other names for this method are coral beaded or coralene beaded. A companion piece to this lot sold, Skinner, Boston, MA, 17 July 2004, lot 4753. Condition: Overall: 35.25 x 23''. Good overall condition. Nicely painted. Some fading or cloudiness to glass beads, obscuring some detail of the gown. Detail most visible under direct light. Some scattered losses to glass beads. With a 0.5'' loss near bustle of dress. Apparently with some losses of beads and pigment round red panels of hat. Frame painted gold. With some rubbing and minor losses overall.
